(DIP) PAKISTAN'S STRUGGLE AGAINST TERRORISM WILL SUCCEED, PM ERDOGAN.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26, 2009 (TUR) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday he believed Pakistan's struggle against terrorism, a common enemy of humanity, will carry this country to success.

Addressing Pakistani parliamentarians in Islamabad, Erdogan said that Pakistan was not alone in the fight against terror and radicalism.

I am pleased to be in Pakistan, a friendly and brotherly country, Erdogan said.

I remember the late Benazir Bhutto, who lost her life in an abhorrent terror attack approximately two years ago, with respect. The political parties in the Turkish parliament issued a statement of condolence to Pakistan on December 27, 2007, the day when Bhutto was killed. The people of Turkey displayed solidarity with the people of Pakistan, Erdogan said.

Pakistan is a key country for stability in South Asia, Central Asia and Western Asia, Erdogan said.

I believe that Pakistan will succeed in its fight against terror, a common enemy of humanity. You are not alone in the struggle against terror and radicalism. We can never permit radicalism. We have suffered from terror as well and lost many of our citizens, Erdogan stressed.

My government and the Turkish people are beside their Pakistani brothers and sisters in Pakistan's struggle against terror. This is high time for unity and solidarity. Pakistan will leave behind these days by national compromise. A new term began in Pakistan following the elections. Economic reforms and democratization are extremely crucial. We believe that the Pakistani parliament is the platform that can meet the urgent needs of Pakistan and will create solid results, Erdogan said.
