(DIP) NEW TURKISH AMBASSADOR IN TEL AVIV VISITS ISRAELI MINISTER ELIEZER.

TEL AVIV, Nov 11, 2009 (TUR) -- Turkey's new Ambassador in Tel Aviv, Oguz Celikkol, paid a visit of courtesy to the Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Binyamin "Fuad" Ben Eliezer on Wednesday.

In his meeting with Ambassador Celikkol, Eliezer called on Turkey to mediate talks between Israel and Syria.

In the meeting closed to press corps, Eliezer told Ambassador Celikkol that Turkey has an important role in Israel's relations with the region.

Israel could launch a peace process with Turkey's mediation between Israel and Syria as well as between Israel and Palestinians, Eliezer stressed.

The deep friendship between Turkey and Israel constitute the base of the strategic partnership between our two countries. Despite ups and downs, I attach great faith to the ties between Turkey and Israel, Eliezer said.

Minister Eliezer will come to Turkey with a group of businessmen on November 23 and attend the meetings of the joint economic commission between the two countries. Turkish Minister of National Defense Vecdi Gonul will head the Turkish side in the joint economic commission meetings.

Eliezer will hold talks in both Ankara and Istanbul.

I hope that our visit to Turkey will boost economic and commercial ties between our two countries, Eliezer also said.
