(DIP) AFGHANISTAN DISCUSSED DURING LAST DAY OF G-8 FOREIGN MINISTERS MEETING.TRIESTE, Jun 27, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- The Group of Eight (G-8) Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in the Trieste city of Italy ended Saturday afternoon. Establishment of stability in Afghanistan and Pakistan was discussed during the last day of the meeting. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu who represented Turkey in the meeting delivered a speech on Turkey's contributions to Afghanistan in the areas of education and economy. Ministers and Deputy Ministers from over 24 countries including the G-8 exchanged views on economic development and infrastructure, refugees and immigrants, agriculture and food safety in the Afghanistan and Pakistan region. The Foreign Ministers' Meeting ended with the press conference held by Franco Frattini Franco Frattini (born 14 March 1957 in Rome) is an Italian politician, currently serving as European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security. He said the assessments in the meeting in Trieste would be submitted in the form of a report to the G-8 Leaders Summit in L'Aquila in June. Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoglu left Italy for Corfu Island of Greece where he will be attending the NATO-Russia Council and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), international organization established as the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) in 1973, during the cold war, to promote East-West cooperation.
