(CUL) CoE HONORS "THREE MONKEYS" WITH CREATIVITY AWARD.STRASBOURG, Nov 11, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Uc Maymun" (Three Monkeys) won the "creativity award" from the Council of Europe Council of Europe, international organization founded in 1949 to promote greater unity within Europe and to safeguard its political and cultural heritage by promoting human rights and democracy. The council is headquartered in Strasbourg, France. . CoE officials will present the award Tuesday evening at the closing ceremony of a film event that screened films supported by Eurimages, European Cinema Support Fund of CoE, and have achieved great success. Eurimages aims to promote the European film industry by encouraging the production and distribution of films and fostering co-operation between professionals. The fund has extended financial assistance of 380 million Euros for more than 1,200 films so far. Ceylan's drama had won the "best director award" at 2008 Cannes Film Festival Cannes Film Festival Film festival held annually in Cannes, France. First held in 1946 for the recognition of artistic achievement, the festival came to provide a rendezvous for those interested in the art and influence of the movies. , one of Europe's most significant film events. Three Monkeys tells the story of a driver, whose boss, a politician running for election, bribes him to claim responsibility for a traffic accident in which he ran over a man at night.
