(BTRE)(ACTL)(LEVL) FSA Elects Three New Directors; July 1995 Marks One-Year Anniversary.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 1995--The Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), established in July 1994 to represent the unique interests of the $5 billion+ "fabless" semiconductor segment, elected three highly experienced board of directors to its nine-person board. The FSA voting members elected George Wells, President and CEO, Exar Corporation, David Angel, CEO, Information Storage Devices, and re-elected Sena Reddy, Sr. Vice President of Manufacturing, Cirrus Logic.

Expiring board of director positions were held by Ted Malanczuk, VP of Operations, Micro Linear, (NASDAQ:MLIN) and Ken Gates, Director of Operations, Sierra Semiconductor, (NASDAQ:SERA). Sierra Semiconductor and Micro Linear are chartered members of the Fabless Semiconductor Association.

"The new directors have already expressed ideas for standard qualification test efforts that each fabless company currently undertakes separately when qualifying their foundry, and offer a fresh perspective on getting the FSA more involved with multiple foundry projects."

Since its inception in 1994, the FSA has grown to over 80 members representing all segments of the industry from the fabless companies to their suppliers--foundry, assembly, packaging and testing--to investment bankers who are instrumental in the capital formation essential to the growth of this segment. The FSA published the first ever measurement of fabless wafer needs in its 1995 Wafer Demand Survey and is currently working on its Technology Requirements Survey and Modeling Survey. In December, the FSA will unveil its WW Wafer Supply Survey to determine what portion of its needs will be met by the existing infrastructure.

To mark its first successful year, the FSA will host a dinner with guest speakers George Gilder and Jack Kemp on Oct. 9, 1995 in San Jose. This event will be open to the public. Co-sponsors of this event will include, Montgomery Securities, Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich and Ernst & Young, LLP.

New Board Member Backgrounder:

George Wells has served as Exar Corporation's President and CEO since he joined the company in July 1992. He has more than 30 years experience in the semiconductor business which has included positions with ITT, GTE Sylvania, Fairchild Camera & Instrument Corporation, General Electric Co. and LSI Logic Corporation. Originally from Scotland, Mr. Wells holds a honors bachelor of science degree in physics and a graduate degree in nuclear physics from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.

David Angel has served as President, CEO and Director of Information Storage Devices, (ISD) since he joined in February 1991. Mr. Angel has held prominent positions at several leading semiconductor companies, including American Microsystems, Advanced Micro Devices and National Semiconductor. Prior to joining ISD, he was group vice president of the semiconductor group of Dataquest, Inc., a market research company. Mr. Angel was educated at Marietta College where he received his bachelor of science degree, as well as Williams College and LaSalle University.

Sena Reddy joined Cirrus Logic, Inc. in 1985 as Fab Operations Manager and is currently Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. He is responsible for directing and managing the company's domestic and international manufacturing production operations, which include mask engineering, wafer fabrication and testing, quality and reliability assurance, packaging, and production controls. Beginning his career as an analog design engineer at Advanced Micro Devices, Mr. Reddy has spent more than 10 years working in various engineering positions related to semiconductor manufacturing, including National Semiconductor Corp. and as the fab manager for Hewlett-Packard. Mr. Reddy earned an MS degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University.
