'Worst school building' set to receive pounds 6m facelift.


COUNCILLORS are expected to give the go-ahead to a pounds 6m proposal to completely transform crumbling Arnot Ar´not

The proposal was first unveiled last year as part of a scheme which also involves closing nearby Walton St Mary Mary, the mother of Jesus
Mary, in the Bible, mother of Jesus. Christian tradition reckons her the principal saint, naming her variously the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady, and Mother of God (Gr., theotokos). Her name is the Hebrew Miriam.

It followed the collapse of a previous project, when heritage campaigners saw the Victorian school become a listed building, saving it from demolition Demolition is the opposite of construction: the tearing-down of buildings and other structures. It contrasts with deconstruction, which is the taking down of a building while carefully preserving valuable elements for re-use. .

If the plans are approved, the 450 pupils from both sites will then use the revamped Arnot Street school. The scheme includes the modernisation of the existing school, new extensions to house a school hall, classrooms, and a covered play area.
