'Wonderful son' in boat tragedy; TRIBUTE: Distraught family tell of anguish after two die.

 have paid tribute to their "wonderful son".

The family of 28-year-old Richard Perry spoke out as the search for his friend, 20-year-old Heather Harris, was called off.

They said Richard, a design engineer, of Victoria Street, Brierley Hill Brierley Hill is a town in Dudley Metropolitan Borough, West Midlands, England. It is best known as the location of the Merry Hill shopping centre on the site of the Round Oak Steelworks. , had brought nothing but joy and happiness.

"Richard was a wonderful son who had achieved so much, they said in a statement.

"His loss has devastated the family and will leave a massive hole."

Richard's sister added: "What a fantastic brother. He would have done anything for anybody. He was such a fun-loving person who lived life to the full."

As Richard's parents struggled to come to terms with their loss, the search for his friend, Heather, of Woodfield Avenue, Wollescote, Stourbridge, was scaled down.

Mr Perry was on holiday with his best friend and business partner Nick Harris Nick Harris (born July 23, 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona) is an American football punter currently playing for the Detroit Lions. He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley where he set the NCAA record for career punting yardage. , the father of Heather, Nick's partner Diane Moore, Heather and her boyfriend, when tragedy struck on Wednesday. Police said that around 1.30pm the group took Mr Perry's 19-ft rigid inflatable boat out from Bembridge Harbour to Whitecliff Bay.

The group then split up, with Mr Perry and Miss Harris heading out to look at the warship warship, any ship built or armed for naval combat. The forerunners of the modern warship were the men-of-war of the 18th and early 19th cent., such as the ship of the line, frigate, corvette, sloop of war (see sloop), brig, and cutter.  HMS Severn, anchored nearby.

Mr Perry's body was found off Whitecliff Bay, more than half a mile away from where his boat had been spotted by a member of the public. The vessel was found snagged on a lobster pot buoy line with no-one on board.

The body of Mr Perry was formally identified on Thursday at St Mary's Hospital, Newport, by his parents.

Mr Perry and his partner Mr Harris ran an industrial unit in Lye, near Stourbridge.

The Marine Accident Investigation Board has begun an inquiry into the cause of the tragedy. A post-mortem on Mr Perry was due to be carried out yesterday and an inquest is due to open next week.

It is believed neither Mr Perry nor Miss Harris were wearing life-jackets.
