'Welsh dyslexia services needed'.


AN Assembly inquiry is critical of the lack of services in Welsh for people who suffer from dyslexia dyslexia (dĭslĕk`sēə), in psychology, a developmental disability in reading or spelling, generally becoming evident in early schooling. To a dyslexic, letters and words may appear reversed, e.g. .

A report by a cross party committee of AMs said there is still room for improvement in dyslexia services across Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. The committee was concerned at the lack of screening and assessing children for dyslexia through the Welsh language.

Chair and Aberconwy AM Gareth Jones said: "The Welsh Government should focus on ensuring that early identification of, and support for, people with dyslexia is available in both the English and Welsh

The British Dyslexia Association wanted every local authority to be 'Dyslexia Friendly' by 2012.
