Her four-year twin daughters Chloe and Melissa and 21-month-old son Evan looked on helplessly as she struggled to manoeuvre them to safety. We were extremely lucky it wasnt a lot worse, said Mrs Wheeler, of Bryn y Nant, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, who only bought the car seven weeks earlier. The children were calmed down by the rescue team. They were unhurt while their mum suffered neck injuries and a broken wrist. It was just a normal afternoon and Id taken the children to the supermarket to get some bits and pieces, said Mrs Wheeler. I got onto the bypass and went to overtake on the outside lane but something happened to the car and it started to spin. I put my foot on the brake and tried as hard as I could to guide the car to the barrier to the right of the lane, to try and slow down there was nothing else I could think of. It left me in total shock and I didnt have my mobile phone when we crashed to a stop. Luckily, a police car was in the same flow of traffic and immediately went to Mrs Wheelers aid to prevent a more serious collision with oncoming vehicles. A police officer called for help and firefighters had to cut off the roof of the car. Mrs Wheelers husband Mark, 29, a postman, was informed of last Fridays incident while she was taken to hospital.
