'Wanted' man back in court.

A WANTED man suspected of committing a series of armed robberies across Merseyside and Cheshire appeared before magistrates yesterday.

, 36, was arrested on Saturday in Canon Road, Anfield, after a high speed car chase.

Williams, of Anfield Road, has been at large since escaping from Mold crown court on December 23 last year, where he was facing three charges, including robbery.

Caroline Ross, prosecuting, alleged he got away by holding a blade to the throat of a female security officer and "marching"

her through the court.

She accused him of "later getting into a VauxhallAstra that was waiting at traffic lights, threatening the female driver, who got out of the car".

Williams chose not to enter a plea to 14 charges against him, including four robberies he is alleged to have committed while on the run.

These included stealing pounds 666.35 from Coral Bookmakers, Frodsham, on February 23, 2009, pounds 200 from Helsby Post Office on February 28, and pounds 1,893.35 from Corbett's, Chester onMarch 2.He is also accused of stealing pounds 150 from a Local off-licence in Ormskirk on March 5, using an imitation handgun.

He was also charged with escaping from custody, kidnapping and stealing a car as well as dangerous driving, driving while disqualified dis·qual·i·fy

Williams will be brought to Chester crown court Chester Crown Court is a law court in Chester, England.

It is most famous for staging the Moors Murders trial of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley in 1966. More recent high-profile murderers to have been tried at the court include Howard Hughes and John O'Shaugnessey.
