'Victoria Beckham' Maddie clue.

PRIVATE detectives searching for Madeleine McCann were hunting a "Victoria Beckham lookalike" today, who may have information about the missing girl.

They issued an e-fit of a woman who, according to reports, asked a British man: "Have you got her? Have you got the child?" at a marina in Spain three days after Madeleine disappeared. She was described as glamorous and could be Australian based on her accent.

The investigators said it was possible that Madeleine was smuggled from the Algarve to Barcelona by yacht. Former UK detective inspector Dave Edgar, who is leading the McCanns' private investigation, said it was a "strong lead".

Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3, 2007, while her parents dined with friends nearby.

Just over 72 hours later, two British men saw the woman while on a night out in Barcelona's Port Olimpic Marina. She appeared agitated as if she was waiting to meet somebody. One of the British men spoke to her before she went in to a bar and had a heated conversation with a local in fluent Spanish.
