The society is linked to Huddersfield Law Society through a twinning programme which began in 2002. This was the fifth visit conducted as part of the scheme, which aims to help lawyers in both countries learn about foreign legal practices. About 250 Ugandan lawyers have been to workshops run by the societies. The Huddersfield society has also sent 5,000 legal textbooks to Kampala. Ranjit Uppal was on his first visit to Uganda. He said: "I am sure we'll go back. It was a privilege to work with the lawyers on the course. One man travelled 450 miles to attend, another came over 300 miles."
