'There's lots to do but we're both so excited' Big day drawing near for wedding competition winners.

PLANS for the Echo's wedding of the year are in full swing.

Stacey Loxton, 22, and David Pearce There have been several notable people named David Pearce, including:

, 27, from Llanrumney, Cardiff, will tie the knot knot

As part of their prize, Stacey and David have won a ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception for 40 people at Cardiff's Marriott on Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week. , October 19.

They will even stay in the hotel's bridal suite after saying "I do".

As their preparations get underway, the happy couple have visited the hotel to meet special events manager, Faye Yanner, and see the setting of their special day.

Stacey said: "It's all really exciting.

There's a lot to do, but it will all be worth it.

"The Marriott is a beautiful place to get married and the people there are fabulous. They're really friendly and approachable."

Stacey and David were chosen as the competition winners after suggesting an "Echo-themed" wedding, that would include our free Wem-baa-ley sheep in their wedding photographs and the invitation for our editor, Mike Hill, to act as registrar See domain name registrar. .

When they visited their wedding hotel last week, they said they felt like film stars as they excitedly looked around the bridal suite, which boasts a separate bedroom and living area.

Faye said: "They seemed really pleased with it all. I'm sure it will be a beautiful wedding.

"We have a couple of meetings with them before it all goes ahead so that we can go through the details and make sure everything is they want it."

David said: "We're really nervous but we both really want to get married so we're very excited.

"Faye was brilliant. Obviously we've never been married before so it's all new to us. Having her knowledge and experience is just great.

"We're just trying to sit back and enjoy all this as much as possible because we'll never experience anything like it again.

"We can't express how grateful we are. It's an unbelievable prize - a real once-in-a-life time opportunity and it's made us both so happy. Even our son Oliver seems to have been happier lately and he's only 16 months old!"
