'The ridiculous to the sublime' for Black Cats manager Bruce.


Sunderland .............. 5 Wolverhampton W...... 2 STRIKER Kenwyne Jones plundered a second-half double as Sunderland finally killed off a Wolves fightback in a seven-goal thriller at the Stadium of Light yesterday after noon.

The Black Cats found themselves 2-0 up three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost. It is the twenty-second episode of the second season. Jones restored their lead with 20 minutes remaining with a powerful long-range drive, and when Michael Turner powered home a 73rdminute header, the home fans among a crowd of 37,566 were able to breathe a little more easily.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy's misery was complete in injury time when defender Michael Mancienne deflected Bent's shot past keeper Wayne Hennessey to complete the scoring.

Bruce said: "We go from the ridiculous to the sublime but the one thing we've got is a threat up front. It got us out of jail today."

His Wolves counterpart, McCarthy, said: "We really played well.

"I thought we could win it at 2-2 and I think we deserved something from the game."
