'TV news prancers overpaid'.

 newsreaders are paid too much, Commons leader Jack Straw said yesterday.

And he mocked those journalists who "prance" around TV studios.

Mr Straw said: "On the issue of whether newscasters should prance around studios or sit and read the news, which is what it seems to me they are paid for - and too much - I prefer the latter to the former."

Commons leader Mr Straw was responding to a question by ex-Labour minister Chris Mullin Chris Mullin may refer to:

Mr Mullin warned the BBC would have difficulty justifying its licence fee if it did not raise its game.

He criticised newsreaders walking around and accused the BBC of "cynically" editing a news story about Tony Blair.
