Arnold Schwarzenegger's office sent a letter to Williams' attorneys and prosecutors last week outlining the process for the clemency application. ``The first step was to notify us as to Williams' intent to pursue clemency,'' said Schwarzenegger spokeswoman Margita Thompson. ``He has notified us that he will indeed pursue clemency. So that's where we are right now.'' The application itself must be filed to the governor's Legal Affairs Office in Sacramento no later than 35 days before the scheduled execution date. The execution is scheduled for Dec. 13, although defense attorneys have asked it be moved to Dec. 22 to give them more time to file their request to Schwarzenegger. The governor will share documents and work with the Board of Parole parole (pərōl`), in criminal law, release from prison of a convict before the expiration of his term on condition that his activities be restricted and that he report regularly to an officer.
