'THE NERD' IS UP AT REP PLAYHOUSE.

The Repertory East Playhouse is continuing its opening season with ``The Nerd,'' a comedy by Larry Shue Larry Shue (23 July 1946 - 23 September 1985) was an American playwright and actor, best known for writing two often-performed farces, The Nerd and The Foreigner. .

The play centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he's never met, but who saved his life in Vietnam. The visitor turns out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid nerd who outstays his welcome.

In the Rep's production, the protagonist, Willum, is played by Barrett Davidson and his love interest, Tansy tansy (tăn`zē), perennial herb (Tanacetum vulgare) of the family Asteraceae (aster family), native to Europe but naturalized in North America. , is played by Sondra Mayer. Rounding out the trio of friends is Paul Mulbrecht who plays Axel Axel: see Absalon. , a sarcastic sar·cas·tic

The nerd, Rick Steadman, is played to annoying perfection by Chris Loprete.

``Audiences will love this show,'' said the Rep's Producing Artistic Director Craig Duswalt. ``I am sure they will leave the theater rolling with laughter.''

Showtimes for ``The Nerd'' are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through June 18 at the Repertory East Playhouse, 24266 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Newhall. The show is appropriate for ages 13 and over.
