'Spirited Away' not among Golden Globe nominees.

Hayao Miyazaki's critically acclaimed animation ''Spirited Away'' (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) failed Thursday to win a nomination in any category for the Golden Globe Awards despite winning three top honors in recent weeks.

Unlike the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Association which awards the Oscars, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA HFPA Hollywood Foreign Press Association
HFPA Health Facility Planning Agency (US Army)
HFPA Home Furnishings Professionals Association
), which awards the Golden Globes, does not have a specific category for best animated picture a moving picture.

The HFPA indicated earlier that ''Spirited Away'' was considered in the Best Drama category, but all five nominations in that category were films with real actors.

Other animated films, such as Disney's ''Beauty and the Beast'' and ''The Lion King,'' have been past winners in the Best Musical and Best Comedy categories.

The Japanese film is among 17 possible nominees for an Oscar in the best animated film division. The final nominees will be announced in February for the March awards ceremony.
