The traditional ceremony will mark an important stage in the development of the country's first multi-agency justice centre. Topping out takes place when structural work on a new building has been completed and before internal fitting out. Police spokeswoman Kate Turner said: "The ceremony is seen as an omen of good fortune for the building and for those involved in the construction. "At the topping out, a time capsule will be placed in the wall of Court Room Four." The ceremony on Friday will also be attended by the Mayor of Nuneaton, Ian Lloyd, and Richard Dakin, the regional director of HBG Construction Ltd, the company contracted to build the pounds 13 million centre.
