'Shrek' opening weekend pulls in $121.6M

"Shrek the Third" was rolling in green with a $121.6 million weekend, smashing the franchise's own record for best animated opening ever and delivering the third-best debut of all time.

The animated comedy trails only the $151.1 million first weekend of "Spider-Man 3" this month and last summer's $135.6 million debut of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."
