Gabriel Bhengu, Jabu Mbowane were yesterday found guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court of murdering the two men and will be sentenced today.

The court heard the pair, who had overstayed their entry visas into the UK, and Kashia Allen, the 22-year-old girlfriend of Bhengu, targeted vulnerable victims to rob.

But Mr Williams and Mr Owen both put up some resistance after being grabbed in a headlock and were killed.

Bhengu, 27, and Mbowane, 26, both of Court Road, Wolverhampton, were found guilty of murdering Mr Williams, who died on April 5 last year.

They were also convicted of the murder of Mr Owen, killed as he crossed Coronation Gardens, in Sedgley, on April 15. Allen was found guilty of his manslaughter.

Bhengu and Allen were also found guilty on five charges of robbery. Mbowane was convicted of four robberies.

After the verdicts, Mr Williams' brother Paul, 46, said: "They're cowards, they're parasites - they targeted decent hard-working people going about their daily life.

"They were prepared to use any amount of force on people they thought were at a disadvantage. The result is two families have lost loved ones they cherished. This could easily have been seven.

"They've got no compassion at all. They shouldn't have been in this country. They were living off other people's backs. The're scum.

"They want hanging, no two ways about it."

The court was told that Allen, of Crosby Close, Wolverhampton, drove the two men to the scene of the robberies.

Their targets, which included four women, were selected and held in headlocks while their pockets or bags were searched and many of them felt they were dying because of the pressure applied.

Roger Smith QC, prosecuting, said Mr Owen was robbed of his gold jewellery, including a necklace, chain and bracelet, but the killers missed the pounds 950 he had stuffed in a pocket.
