'SPIDEY 3' OFFERS LITTLE EXCITEMENT.Byline: Redmond Carolipio Staff Writer What bothers me about playing "Spider-Man 3" is that I don't get any sense of joy or wonder out of it. It's a superhero su·per·he·ro n. pl. su·per·he·roes A figure, especially in a comic strip or cartoon, endowed with superhuman powers and usually portrayed as fighting evil or crime. game -- I'm supposed to feel fantastic. Yet here I was, virtually doing things no normal person can do, yet there are times when the experience becomes about as fun as cleaning out the fridge. The tag line tag line also tag·line n. 1. An ending line, as in a play or joke, that makes a point. 2. An often repeated phrase associated with an individual, organization, or commercial product; a slogan. Noun 1. of the first Spidey movie was "With great power comes great responsibility," and this latest Spider-Man game (based loosely on the movie) certainly has power. It's got a gigantic playground of Manhattan, offers limitless access to all of Spidey's powers and features a wealth of story lines and villains that would appease ap·pease tr.v. ap·peased, ap·peas·ing, ap·peas·es 1. To bring peace, quiet, or calm to; soothe. 2. To satisfy or relieve: appease one's thirst. 3. some of the web-slinger's more dedicated fans. For some extra points, you've also got most of the actors from the movie (including Tobey Maguire) vocally reprising their roles in the game. But as far the "responsibility" part goes, the playing experience itself feels clunky and sloppy, with issues ranging from a spastic spastic /spas·tic/ (spas´tik) 1. of the nature of or characterized by spasms. 2. hypertonic, so that the muscles are stiff and movements awkward. spas·tic adj. 1. camera to a fickle fick·le adj. Characterized by erratic changeableness or instability, especially with regard to affections or attachments; capricious. Add in some other foibles, and the prospect of shelling out $60 for it at your friendly neighborhood game store becomes less and less enticing. And I want to mention the poor visual quality of the cinema scenes. What happened? The character models are creepy creep·y adj. creep·i·er, creep·i·est Informal 1. Of or producing a sensation of uneasiness or fear, as of things crawling on one's skin: a creepy feeling; a creepy story. 2. -- they look like action figures that were brought to life, moving stiffly and serving up dead-eyed glares at each other. I was disturbed.
