``Slavey'' is a glimpse of a world inhabited by just two types of people, those who serve and those who rule. Gilmer used his play to prove the theory that regardless of how power is attained or how one becomes a servant, both servant and master must maintain a strong mental psyche in order to be obedient to the system and allow it to function effectively.

``Slavey'' is a comedy about the power struggles between the ruler and the servant, the mental conflict within themselves, and the battle to belong to or escape a community of servitude servitude
