'Prince gig refunds for 50,000 fans' COURTS.

A PROMOTER had to cancel more than 50,000 tickets after a show by singer Prince, allegedly made through his agent, was cancelled, the High Court heard yesterday.

 said he left them high and dry by failing to turn up and failing to give a proper explanation for the cancellation last summer at Croke Park Croke Park (Irish: Páirc an Chrócaigh) in Dublin, Ireland is the largest sports stadium in Ireland and the principal stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Ireland's biggest sporting organisation. .

The court heard the promoter was claiming financial loss and damage to its commercial reputation over his cancellation.

MCD's Denis Desmond said while it was normal industry practice for promoters to get insurance against cancellation, no policy would insure against cancellation by reason of "a whim" of the artist.

He added they had to refund 55,126 tickets and losses exceeded EUR EUR
