'Potter' premieres with $77.1 million


"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" enchanted moviegoers with a $77.1 million opening weekend, raising its total since debuting last Wednesday to $139.7 million.

The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Media By Numbers LLC are:

1. "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," Warner Bros., $77,108,414, 4,285 locations, $17,995 average, $139,715,157, one week.

2. "Transformers," Paramount, $37,027,901, 4,050 locations, $9,143 average, $224,009,583, two weeks.

3. "Ratatouille," Disney, $18,012,196, 3,625 locations, $4,969 average, $142,997,082, three weeks.

4. "Live Free or Die Hard," Fox, $11,279,135, 3,201 locations, $3,524 average, $103,322,580, three weeks.
