Peter Nolan, managing director of Circus Casino.com, said: "If you're lucky enough to be born with some of these desirable facial characteristics it could benefit your poker playing, but even if you don't have the perfect poker face, or you're not a great bluffer, you can always play on-line where your face or its expression won't matter."

Around 200 competitors are expected to battle it out at Circus Casino, in Star City, for a share of a guaranteed pounds 100,000 prize pot.

Naomi Tickle, personologist and author of You Can Read a Face Like a Book, said: "Looking at these ten successful players there are many remarkable similarities, suggesting that there may well be a poker face look.

"Interestingly, many of the traits are ones you would normally see in actors and successful business people - it seems a good poker player mixes commercial nous with theatrical flair."

Players have been competing in qualifiers over the last three months for a chance to play in the fourday tournament with big time players Dave Colclough - the Welsh number one - and top female pro Lucy Rokach among those to have secured places.
