'Pay good wage for fostering'.FOSTER carers must be paid a proper salary if a shortage of 10,000 is to be filled, a charity warns. Fostering Network says three in four parents are paid below the minimum wage, while 40 per cent are paid nothing at all. The charity wants them to be paid the same as residential social workers - about pounds 400 a week. Foster carers are paid by their local council - and the rates differs widely.
