'Overhaul alcohol labels' call.


ALCOHOL labelling must be overhauled to stop profit being put above public health, a campaign group said today.

A report by Alcohol Concern, called Message on a Bottle, found that only 4% of drinks sold by supermarkets Supermarkets, past and present, include: Transnational
Originating (HQ) country first. The rest in alphabetical order.
  • A&P - US, Canada.
  • Aldi - Germany
 adhered to best practice when it came to labelling. Fewer than a fifth (18%) had information about sensible sensible /sen·si·ble/ (sen´si-b'l)
1. capable of sensation.

2. perceptible to the senses.

 drinking levels and just over half (56%) explained the number of units.

The charity called on the Gover nment to make the industry display unit information, advised maximum drinking levels and health warnings on labels.

Chief executive Don Shenker said: "There is a huge disparity dis·par·i·ty
