'One-nut' pumps in the sun.

Sunjuice Ltd, suppliers of freshly squeezed juices, crushes and smoothes, have procured and installed a Good Food pump from Flotronic Pumps Ltd. as part of their efforts to improve product handling.

The 2 inch pump in 316 Stainless Steel from FPL, transfers fruit juices and smoothes from the mixing vessels to the filling lines some 70 metres away. At a flowrate of 25 1/mm and a viscosity up to 8,000cp. at a temperature of 2[degrees]C, the pumps have a flooded suction and discharge the products through a 1+ inch pipe 5 metres vertical and 70 metres horizontally, with at least 15-90[degrees] bends.

The Good Food Pump is part of the 'One Nut' quick maintenance range of Air Operated Double Diaphragm pumps from FPL. With the 'Tool Free' integral T bars it takes only 10 minutes to strip down and rebuild. The pump is designed for either quick strip or CIP (Clean-in-place) applications where hygienic design is critical. Manufactured from either 304 or 316 Stainless Steel with virgin PTFE elastomers, with flowrates up to 600 litres/minute and temperatures up to 120[degrees]C, they are suitable for handling shear sensitive and delicate products with minimal damage.
