Thomas James (Tommy) Wright (born 21 October 1944 in Liverpool) is a former footballer. He joined Everton F.C.
 last night branded big-spending Newry City the "Chelsea of the Irish League".

"It's difficult to compete financially with Newry this season," said Wright. "They have invested heavily and they've become the Chelsea of the local game.

"I admire that fact, but I also know from experience that backers always want a return on their investment.

"Newry will be looking for silverware to complement their financial clout and they will want a good run in the Irish Cup.

"We stand in their way this weekend and it's up to us to meet that challenge."
