'NEMO'S' GROSS TOPS $200 MILLION.

Meanwhile, the Jim Carrey “James Carrey” redirects here. For the murder conspirator, see James Carey.

He aided William I in his conquest of England (1066) and was given lands in England.  Almighty'' is poised to cross the $200 million mark today after 28 days of release. The films join ``The Matrix Reloaded'' and ``X2: X-Men United'' as the only 2003 releases to earn at least $200 million in ticket sales.

Anthony Kusich, a box office analyst for Reel Source Inc., said ``Nemo'' and ``Almighty'' should outgross both ``Reloaded'' and ``X2'' in the end because of their tremendous word of mouth popularity and family appeal.

``They are movies that a lot of people are recommending,'' Kusich said. ```Nemo' is also a kids' hit, and kids see a movie over and over. You'd rather have a word-of-mouth hit on your hands than a first-weekend-only type of movie that has a huge drop the next weekend.''

With an opening weekend of $70.5 million, ``Nemo'' set the record for the biggest opening ever for an animated film. After spending the next weekend at No. 2 behind new release ``2 Fast 2 Furious,'' ``Nemo'' quickly dethroned that film to return to No. 1.

While Universal Pictures' ``The Hulk,'' which bows in theaters today, is widely expected to take over the top box office spot from ``Nemo'' this weekend, Disney executives expect continued popularity well into the summer.

``I guess after the first weekend, the expectations obviously changed in everyone's mind, then the strength of the second weekend really buoyed our confidence in this film,'' said Chuck Viane, president of distribution for Disney's Buena Vista Pictures. ``We returned to No. 1 in weekend three and are very confident we will be No. 2 this weekend.''

``Nemo'' now has a realistic chance of joining the rarified rar·i·fied
