"We have been out canoeing, ice skating, mountaineering, singing and dancing in recent months and I love it. "It is nice to be able to help the children by talking to them, advising them and just being there for them. "Being a youngster has changed a lot over the years because children are growing up so quickly. When they get to 16 or 17 they want to go to the pub and before that they want to play on their PlayStations." But evergreen Stan, who has seven grandchildren, says his wife Connie deserves the MBE instead of him. He said: "She has been so understanding down the years because I have spent so much time out of the house. "I can remember her taking our children to the beach while I was out on exercises with the youth club.
