KRONKE >TV CRITIC If you're a parent of tweens, you have no other choice Friday night but to sit down with your kids and enjoy "High School Musical 2," the follow-up to one of TV's all-time phenomena. But if you've seen the original -- and, again, if you're a parent, no doubt you have -- you realize that it'll be painless and even entertaining kids' programming. As with the original, "High School Musical 2" announces its infectious ambitions early, here with an extravagantly choreographed and energetically performed musical ode to school giving way to summer vacation Summer vacation (also called summer holidays or summer break) is a vacation in the summertime between school years in which students are off for 3 months, depending on the country and district. . Never fear: His pals, and even Sharpay's -- what's the word? artistic -- brother, Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), are around to help remind him. Thankfully, "High School Musical 2" doesn't get too bogged down in its plot; it's usually too busy setting up yet another musical set piece to wow you. And the spirited cast gives it all they have to ensure a pleasant time is had by all. Interestingly, this sequel to the most successful TV movie of all time has a subtext sub·text n. 1.
