'MICE' SPOTTED IN THE PLAYHOUSE.Byline: Peggy Hager Staff Writer PALMDALE - The classic John Steinbeck Noun 1. John Steinbeck - United States writer noted for his novels about agricultural workers (1902-1968) John Ernst Steinbeck, Steinbeck drama ``Of Mice and Men'' will be presented by the Palmdale Repertory Theatre repertory theatre Production of several different plays in a single season by a resident acting company. The plays chosen may be classic works by famous dramatists or new works by emerging playwrights, and the companies that perform them often serve as a training ground for during six performances at the Palmdale Playhouse. Directed by Nancy Westfall - who also directed the company in ``Plaza Suite'' last summer - ``Of Mice and Men'' stars Joe Barnard and David Suppe in the starring roles. The play is staged in 1937, as George (Suppe) and his slow-witted friend, Lenny (Barnard), get work as field hands on a Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The region contains the San Francisco Bay Area, the state capital, Sacramento; as well as the substantial natural beauty of the redwood forests, the northern ranch. An artless, credulous, or uncritical statement or act. quickly gets him into trouble, and the friends see the end of their dream of someday owning a ranch of their own. In supporting roles, David Wright portrays Candy; Scott Hickerson plays Curley, the ranch owner; and newcomer Jill Ryan portrays Curley's wife. Rounding out the case are James Hiers as Slim, Rick Cory as the Boss, David Griffen as Carlson, Paul Moore as Whit and Andre Williams as Crooks. Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. today, Saturday and Sept. 22-23; and at 2 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 24. Tickets are $12 general admission and $11 for students and seniors.
