The Militant Group was an early British Trotskyist group, formed in 1935 by Denzil Dean Harber, former leader of the Marxist Group, as an entrist group al-Shabab, said the woman had given birth to a still-born baby after the affair. Under al-Shabab's interpretation of Sharia law, anyone who has ever been married - even if they are divorced - can be stoned to death for adultery. An unmarried person who has sex before marriage is liable to 100 lashes. The killing was in a small Somali village near Wajid, 250 miles north-west of the capital, Mogadishu. It is thought to be the second time al-Shabab has had a woman stoned to death for adultery. The group controls large areas of southern Somalia which has been without central government for 18 years. Earlier this month a man was stoned to death for adultery south of Mogadishu. His pregnant girlfriend was spared until she gives birth.
