'LITTLE MIRACLE' TOT BORN WEIGHING THE SAME AS A COKE CAN.

TINY April Orman, who was born weighing just 14oz, has become one of the smallest babies to survive.

She was given only a five per cent chance of survival after contracting the potentially deadly MRSA superbug.

April, who was born 12 weeks premature in January, weighed the same as a can of Coke and spent weeks in intensive care suffering from a broken arm and leg, jaundice and lung problems.

But she has battled against all the odds and,after spending more than three months in hospital,she is now at home with her family.

Her successful fight for life stunned doctors at the Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton.

Now, five-and-a-half months later, April weighs a healthy 6lb 11oz. Her proud parents Dawn and Martin and big brothers Alex, eight, and five-year-old Pierce are all amazed at little April's will to live.

Speaking from their family home in Totton, Hampshire, Dawn, 35, said: 'She's just amazing, she has done so well. She really is our little miracle.'

Salesman husband Martin added: 'The day before she was born, I was told she would have less than a five per cent chance of survival.When April was born, she was smaller than my hand.

'She was so fragile I was afraid to touch her in case she broke.

'I'm just so delighted April's home with us and she's healthy.'
