'Knifeman' wrestled to the ground.

A NAKED man was wrestled to the ground by brave passers-by after a woman was stabbed in Birmingham.

The victim, in her 20s, was found seriously injured outside her home in Summer Road, in Erdington, at about 7am today.

Detectives said passers-by who saw the woman helped detain de·tain

 a man, who is believed to be the woman's partner, who was also in the street at the time.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder In the criminal law, attempted murder is committed when the defendant does an act that is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the crime of murder and, at the time of these acts, the person has a specific intention to kill.  and was this afternoon being held for questioning at Queens Road police station.

The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital where she was this afternoon undergoing tests. Police described her injuries as serious but not life-threatening.

A house in Summer Road was this afternoon being examined by forensics specialists.

Det Insp Nick Walton, from Queen's Road CID Cid or Cid Campeador (sĭd, Span. thēth kämpāäthōr`) [Span.,=lord conqueror], d. 1099, Spanish soldier and national hero, whose real name was Rodrigo (or Ruy) Díaz de Vivar. , praised the public for intervening in what they believe was a "domesticrelated incident".

He appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact officers on 0845 113 5000,
