'Juggling' mum lands a dream; LYNDA'S SEVEN YEARS OF STUDY LEAD TO IDEAL FULL-TIME JOB.

Byline: DAYLE CRUTCHLOW

A BUSY mother of five from Nuneaton is celebrating after juggling responsibilities for seven years to gain a degree - and land her dream job.

Lynda Frisby, 37, placed childhood dreams of a teaching career to the back of her mind as she concentrated on raising a family.

But, thanks to an access course at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College North Warwickshire and Hinckley College is a Further Education College located in Nuneaton, England, in the Warwickshire area. It teaches a wide variety of learning programmes to students ranging from 'traditional' further education students (unofficially known as Key Stage 5) to , she gained a degree and, to the delight of her family, has now accepted a full-time job teaching IT at Cardinal Wiseman RC Secondary School in Coventry.

She said: "All my children supported my decision, as did my husband. Their support gave me the strength to carry on.

"I feel over the moon, like I am still in cloud cuckoo land. It has taken seven years for me to get here but every year has been well worth it.

"The college pushed me forward, even when I did not think I could get any further."

Lynda, from Stockingford, left school at 16, got married and start a family - and set aside her goal of a teaching career.

But, at the age of 30, when her youngest started school, she started GCSEs in law and maths and some computing modules at Bedworth College.

Her dreams of becoming a teacher were re-awakened and she enrolled on an access course at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.

The determined mum studied part-time over two years so that she could continue to care for her family and her partially disabled mother.

Lynda completed that course in 2001.

She went on to do a Bachelor of Education A Bachelor of Education (BEd) is an undergraduate academic degree which qualifies the graduate as a teacher in schools. North America

Lynda's daughter, Carli, 15, said: "I am glad that mum has finally got her degree.

"She waited until all of us had started school before starting to study, so she really deserves it."

Age no barrier says Lisa LISA WOOD, aged 35, from Hartshill is also celebrating completing a degree course.

She suffers from sub-laxation of the lenses, which means she has poor vision and needs additional support. Her nine-year-old daughter, Thea, is also visually impaired.

Lisa left school at 16 and worked in elderly care homes in Nuneaton for 15 years until she decided she wanted to better herself and enrolled on an access course at the college. In the second year, she decided she wanted to do occupational therapy and was accepted at Coventry University The expanding main campus is situated on the east side of Coventry city centre, which boasts one of the most innovative (and unusual-looking) university libraries in the UK. The university is particularly noted for its world-renowned automotive design and engineering degree courses as  for an occupational therapy degree course. She said: "It doesn't matter what your age or circumstances are. Anyone can return to education. It just needs determination."

Lisa now hopes to work with stroke victims.
