Now the secrets of her flamboyant life and shocking death are laid bare in The Last Days Of Katy French by Jason O'Toole. The Irish Daily Mirror brings readers an exclusive first look today with further shocking details in tomorrow's paper. THE final hours of Katy French are today revealed in the dramatic new book about her controversial life and tragic death. Close pals of the model have revealed how she spiralled into a depression-fuelled cocaine binge as the stress of a public and press backlash took hold. The model was struck with panic attacks and crying fits in her final moments as she took a killer line of cocaine to try and escape her heartache. The tell-all book claims she hit an all-time low just hours before her death after a number of articles ridiculing her birthday party were published in newspapers. It tells how Katy took her phone out of her handbag and noticed she had several new text messages and missed calls. One was from Kieron Ducie. He wanted to know how she was feeling after reading the stories. As she read the sympathetic text messages telling her not to worry about the articles, she leaned against the wall and started to sob SOB shortness of breath. SOB abbr. shortness of breath sob, n a short, convulsive inspiration, attended by contraction of the diaphragm and spasmodic closure of the glottis. . She then texted Ducie back, saying: "It's humiliating hu·mil·i·ate tr.v. hu·mil·i·at·ed, hu·mil·i·at·ing, hu·mil·i·ates To lower the pride, dignity, or self-respect of. See Synonyms at degrade. , it's disgusting. I just can't handle this. They are picking on me." Later that evening she had a phone conversation with Ducie. She told him: "The hurtful hurt·ful adj. Causing injury or suffering; damaging. hurt ful·ly adv.hurt thing about it is I haven't had many birthday parties. "This is the only big birthday party I've ever really had. It's all garbage, I keep telling myself. But it still hurts. Nobody likes to read in a national newspaper that they've got no friends." Katy tried to pull herself together as she drove to her mother's house. She was beginning to consider taking a break from the media game. She didn't want to give up now after everything she had achieved but she couldn't bear to continue like this, the butt of jokes and the target of malicious attacks. Katy wanted to get out of the house and talk to someone. She didn't feel like going to a club. What she really wanted was to sit down with a friend and have a chat. She had called and texted many friends that night, but nobody returned her calls. At 9.30pm, Katy tried to phone her friend Ann Corcoran Ann Kathleen Corcoran (born 21 September 1951), an Australian politician, has been an Australian Labor Party member of the House of Representatives since 12 August 2000, representing the Division of Isaacs, Victoria. , but Ann's mobile was switched off. She then sent a text message to Ducie asking: "What's the story What's the Story was an American television program broadcast on the now defunct DuMont Television Network from 1951 to 1955. It was a game show originally hosted by Walt Raney. ? What's going on What's Going On is a record by American soul singer Marvin Gaye. Released on May 21, 1971 (see 1971 in music), What's Going On reflected the beginning of a new trend in soul music. ? Where are you?" Ducie replied straight away, telling her he was at a stag party Noun 1. stag party - a party for men only (or one considered suitable for men only) smoker party - a group of people gathered together for pleasure; "she joined the party after dinner" with some friends in Cocoon. Immediately she responded: "I'm a little bit upset. Where's Ann? I need to talk to someone." Ducie sent Katy another text message telling her Ann said Katy should come out to the house. The book claims she felt there was no way she was going to make it through this weekend without some "daz" - her codename for cocaine. Katy had been taking drugs since she was a teenager and never had a bad episode. The model went into the sitting room where her mum Janet was sitting watching television and said goodbye. She told her mother she'd be back bright and early to make dinner. Katy got into her jeep at around 11.30pm on Saturday night and drove away from her mother's house in Stillorgan, towards the M50. All she needed was a few lines of coke to help her deal with everything. Ducie would later maintain neither he nor his girlfriend Ann witnessed Katy taking cocaine at his home that night. She may have pulled the jeep over as she was nearing Ducie's house and taken out a compact mirror and credit card. It is believed she would have tipped some of the white powder on to the mirror, and, using the credit card, chopped up the cocaine until it was fine enough to inhale in·hale v. 1. To breathe in; inspire. 2. To draw something such as smoke or a medicinal mist into the lungs by breathing; inspire. . Then, after forming the powder into neat lines, she would have snorted the coke using a rolled-up bank note. It seemed unlikely that this was the last time that night Katy took the drug but if this was the case, she collapsed almost eight hours after she had last snorted a line. However, when gardai came to examine the scene a few days later, they found no traces of cocaine. After greeting each other, Ann asked if she was OK. Katy shook her head. She told Ann she felt like s**t and apologised for disturbing her at such a late hour. She said she had called other friends but hardly anybody had answered and that she just needed to talk for a while. Katy went over to the patio door leading to the rear of the house and slid it open. She went outside on to the decking area, took a breath of the cold air and lit a cigarette. Inhaling deeply, she looked up at the night sky and then at the cigarette in her hand and said: "I'm sick of smoking. It's a filthy habit. I'm going to give it up soon. It's going to be my New Year's resolution." Ann knew there must be something really troubling Katy for her to come all the way out to Kilmessan just to have a chat and asked her what was on her mind. Katy told her she rang a lot of people that night and nobody else answered her calls, just Ann and Kieron. She said: "They all hate me. Do you see the way media are depicting me?" Katy revealed her relationship with Jim Mansfield Jim Mansfield is commonly known as one of Ireland's "quiet" millionaires. She said she could no longer stay there if she was causing embarrassment to the Mansfields and she needed a clean break. Ann asked: "Is this all about man troubles? I know you better than that, Katy. What's wrong? What's really wrong?" Katy wanted to pour her heart out. Ducie walked into the kitchen around 6.45am. He was sober enough to realise something was seriously wrong. Katy had obviously been crying. He looked over at Ann and could see she was concerned. Katy repeated most of her earlier conversation with Ann. She said: "An awful lot has happened to me in the past three days, you know? But I'll bounce back, you know I will." Ducie said: "You need a break away from this. Go and lie low for a while. They continued talking and drinking for the next couple of hours until, at around 9am, Katy stood up and said she needed to go home. She steadied herself as she gathered her things together and picked up her keys from the table but Ducie said: "No Katy, You're not driving." Katy replied: "I have to make dinner for my aunt's birthday later. I have to go." "No," Ducie told her. "You're in no condition to be driving." They brought her into a spare bedroom, situated downstairs, beside the kitchen . Ducie put Katy in the double bed and Ann pulled down the blinds of the window at the head of the bed. He went back out to the kitchen to fetch a bottle of water for her. Katy's eyes were closed when he came back. He put the bottle of water down beside the bed and said: "There you go." He couldn't tell if she was awake or asleep as he left the room. Ducie and Ann went upstairs to the master bedroom and he sat down at the edge of the bed. "What was that all about?" he whispered to Ann. As Ann explained what Katy had said to her, Ducie sat there silently, shocked by what Ann had told him. They had been talking about what Katy had been through for about 15 minutes when they heard a bang downstairs. "Is everything OK, Katy?, Ducie shouted down. When there was no answer, Ducie and Ann rushed downstairs to the guest bedroom. When they opened the door they saw Katy on the floor. She was having a seizure and the sound they had heard was her body hitting off a large mirror leaning against the wall. "Oh my God!" Ann screamed. Ducie quickly lifted Katy off the floor and back on to the bed. Her body was in convulsions Convulsions Also termed seizures; a sudden violent contraction of a group of muscles. Ducie decided there was no point in waiting for an ambulance. He felt Katy probably wouldn't survive if they didn't act immediately. He shouted: "Just get the f***ing jeep open." Halfway to the hospital Katy briefly regained consciousness, but she didn't speak. As Ann started to cry hysterically, holding her critically ill friend in her arms, she begged Ducie to hurry. Katy lost consciousness again and soon started to shake uncontrollably. "Oh, God! She's dying. The girl is dying. Oh God, please don't let her die," Ducie screamed. He begged God to let them get to the hospital in time. CAPTION(S): Katy's remains are removed from the mortuary mor·tu·ar·y n.
