LUCAS LEIVA admits he couldn't bear to watch Manchester United lift the Premier League crown.

But the Brazilian is confident Liverpool have shown they have the quality to wrest wrest

  • Old Trafford (cricket ground), home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Lucas watched at home as United earned the point they required at home to Arsenal on Saturday to end the title dreams of Rafael Benitez's side.

And the 22-year-old revealed he had to switch off his television as their bitter North West rivals prepared to be handed the Premier League trophy for the 11th time.

"I watched the game but when they were about to receive the trophy I switched off my TV," said Lucas.

"United deserve the title because they have been consistent but we know we can do it next season.

"Last year in the January we were out of the fight for the title but this time we were right up there challenging, so that shows we are a good team.

"We have to believe in ourselves next season and we have the quality to win the title."

Lucas was an impressive performer as Liverpool strengthened their grip on the runners-up spot with a 2-0 win at West Bromwich West Bromwich (brŭm`ĭj, –ĭch, brŏm`wĭch), city (1991 pop. 146,386), Sandwell metropolitan district, W central England.  Albion on Sunday.

And the Brazilian said: "Our away form has been really good. We have scored a lot of goals and won a lot of games, but the main disappointment for us this year was drawing too many games at home.

"We knew that could be the key and cost us at the end of the season and unfortunately we were right. We dropped too many points against teams who came to Anfield playing really narrow and deep."

The win was overshadowed by an on-field bust-up between Jamie Carragher Simon Petersen(born January 28, 1978 in Bootle, Merseyside) is an English international footballer playing his club football at Liverpool where he is at present vice-captain, behind teammate and fellow Liverpudlian Steven Gerrard.  and team-mate Alvaro Arbeloa.

But goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes the spat was little more than another example of Liverpool's winning mentality.

"It just showed our mentality and our motivation to win the game and not to concede a goal," said Reina. "It is normal and it can happen on the pitch so let's forget it."

Meanwhile, Liverpool have accep-tea six-figure bid from Swansea City for winger Paul Anderson.

The 20-year-old spent this season on loan at Coca-Cola Championship side Nottingham Forest, but was at Swansea for the entire previous campaign and played a lead role as they won the League One title.

Forest are also in talks with Liv-erpooabout securing his services but Swansea now look set to hijack any possible move to the City Ground.
