Jurors at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday heard from Susan Jones - the girlfriend of one of Coulter's co-accused Jason Sunderland. She originally provided Sunderland with a false alibi, but later changed her story and is now the prosecution's star witness. Ms Jones told jurors she had been sleeping at Stephen Coulter's home in Renwick Road, Walton, after spending the evening with his partner Nicola Occleston, when she was woken by banging at about 3.30am on June 15, 2008. She said: "I followed Nicola down after she opened the door because I wanted to tell Jason off for being in so late. "Stephen said: 'I've killed him, I've killed him. "He was shaking." Over the following two hours, she claims Coulter, 25, described the shooting to her. VICTIM: David Garrity She said: "He said he shot him while he was still on the bike, down an alleyway and he felt sick. "He kept saying it, he felt sick. "He just said he went down and didn't get up. He said: 'He's dead, he's dead'." She told jurors how Stephen Coulter used her mobile to phone his brother Lee, who is also charged with murder, to arrange burning their car, clothes and getting rid of their mobile phones. During a full day of evidence, Ms Jones, who gave evidence from behind a screen, told how she became aware of tension between the Coulter family and "the others" - a rival gang of drug dealers she named as the Farleys or Foleys. She told how the Coulter family home had been shot at about 24 hours before. Stephen Coulter, Lee Coulter, 30, of Store Street, Bootle, Sunderland, 37, of no fixed address, and Wesley Porter, 23, of Argos Place,Walton, all deny murder.
