'I'd love to spend New Year's Eve in Sydney'.

Byline: By Cathy Owen South Wales Echo The South Wales Echo is a daily newspaper distributed in south Wales. It was founded in 1884 and is based in Thomson House, Cardiff city centre. It is published daily, in a tabloid form, by Media Wales Ltd (formerly Western Mail & Echo Ltd), part of the Trinity Mirror group.

Welsh television presenter Amanda Protheroe-Thomas has lived in America and Italy and travelled the world with her job. She has tried her hand at just about every sort of extreme sport you can imagine for travel programmes Pacio and Away Days. Cathy Owen spoke to her about her travels...

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

I love Australia. I have been there for work a lot but have only actually been on holiday to the country once.

It is so vast and stunning. I love the whole place, the climate, the people.

I would love to spend New Year's Eve on Sydney Harbour Bridge The Sydney Harbour Bridge is the main crossing of Sydney Harbour carrying rail, vehicular, and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore.  one year watching the fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics.

. Obviously, I am not going to do it this year but I must save my pennies to do it some year.

Where is your favourite place to visit in the UK?

My all-time favourite place is The Gower.

I have my own secret beach but I can't tell you where it is or it won't be a secret any more.

But I do love Three Cliffs and all the other beaches in the area. It really is one of the most beautiful places in the whole country.

What do you always pack in your suitcase?

Because I travel so much, I like to pack for every eventuality.

I have learnt not to trust the weather forecast so I have everything for hot and cold weather.

But when you have to travel light that can be a bit of a problem.

The one thing I never leave home without is my camera because it is so important to have a reminder of those special places.

What has been your biggest holiday disaster?

I am away with work a lot so I have had quite a few disasters.

But the worst has to be crashing a microlight microlight or microlite

Thinking back on it I was very, very lucky to be here to tell the story today.

What has been your best ever holiday?

I went to Grenada a few years ago with friends. It was a fantastic holiday, the best.

We went diving, swimming, lots of water sports water sports Urophilia, see there  and drinking cocktails.

It was so relaxed. A bit like being in paradise. Despite travelling so much with work I have not actually had that many holidays as I try to fit it in around work commitments.
