GRAEME MCDOWELL is hoping to grab his own share of the limelight after making the cut at the Masters for the first time.

The build-up to the first Major of the year has been dominated by the Augusta debut of fellow Ulsterman Rory McIlroy and Dubliner Padraig Harrington chasing the third leg of his 'Paddy Slam'.

Back in Georgia for just the second time after missing the cut on his debut in 2005, McDowell followed his opening 69 with a 73 last night to sit at two under par.

It could have been even better as the Ryder Cup star got to five under around the turn after picking up birdies at the ninth and 10th. But he then gave them back at 14 and 15, where he overshot the green on the par-five with his second shot.

He then dropped another shot at the 17th to trail clubhouse leader Todd Hamilton by four shots. "You can never have too much attention but I am not heaping any expectations on myself," he said.

"Four years on from my first Masters, I feel I am a better player and I would like to think I have shown that already this week."
