At the service, Mr Blair was snubbed by another grieving parent, Peter Brierley, who refused an offer to shake Mr Blair's hand, saying: "I'm not shaking your hand, you've got blood on it." The Archbishop of Canterbury - Dr Rowan Williams - used his sermon at the service to criticise "policy makers" for failing to consider the cost of the Iraq war - a phrase taken to mean the lives of the British servicemen who were killed. Mr Miller, who described Mr Blair as "a liar and a coward", said: "I heard everything Dr Williams said about the decision to go to war and if I had been Mr Blair it would have stung me, but I think he must have the skin of an elephant."
