Byline: By NICK COLIGAN Political Reporter

COACHES packed with Capital of Culture tourists could soon be stopping outside a luxury Liverpool hotel.

Hope Place, next to Hope Street hotel, is being set aside as a pick-up and drop-off zone for vehicles depositing visitors in the city centre.

They fear it will lead to coaches stopping with their engines running while locals and hotel guests are trying to relax or sleep.

Liverpool council has put Hope Place on a list of possible streets where coaches could either park for long periods of time or stop to pick up or drop off passengers.

It said developments like the Kings Dock arena, which will attract thousands of people to each event, made it vital that Liverpool had proper, designated coach parking for 2008.
