'Gross failure' in care for mum.A MOTHER-of-11 who died shortly after childbirth suffered a "gross" failure in basic medical care, an inquest heard yesterday. Within the cranium. haemorrhage after her pre-eclampsia symptoms were not acted upon by staff at the University Hospital of Wales University Hospital of Wales (referred to locally as "the Heath" or UHW), opened in 1971, is situated on the outskirts of central Cardiff, Wales. It is also the third largest University Hospital in the United Kingdom providing 24 hour Accident & Emergency and various in Cardiff. The 38-year-old died at the hospital on March 28 last year having given birth to twins just hours beforehand. The pregnancy had been deemed to be a high risk one because Mrs Hureh had given birth nine times previously. While being questioned by Cardiff Coroner Mary Hassell, Bernadette Moss, a senior midwife MIDWIFE, med. jur. A woman who practices midwifery; a woman who pursues the business of an account. 2. A midwife is required to perform the business she undertakes with proper skill, and if she be guilty of any mala praxis, (q.v. with 30 years' experience, went as far as acknowledging "gross failure" in her medical care.
