It was on an earlier trip to the mall that the Martins saw a display promoting the musical and announcing the contest. Alexandra had watched the show on a cable network and became interested in the musical and the contest. Excited about her first big win, Alexandra said she was ready to entered more contests. Her grandfather, Ed Martin, won as the Skipper. Winners received tickets to the opening night and gift certificates to mall stores.
