'FRAUD' DEPUTY.LONDON mayor Boris Johnson's former deputy was charged with expenses fraud yesterday. Ian Clement Clement, in the Bible Clement, in Philippians, one of Paul's coworkers. He is traditionally identified with St. Clement of Rome, the likely author of a letter written from there to the Corinthian church in c.A.D. 96. , who resigned from his post in June, is accused of five offences under the Fraud Act, ScotlandYard said. The 44-year-old is due to appear at City ofWestminster Magistrates' Court on September 8. A spokesman for Johnson said:"We are aware of this,but this is a matter for the Metropolitan Police and the Crown Prosecution Service Clement, who served as deputy mayor for government and external relations, quit after allegations of "discrepancies" in his use of a corporate credit card. He has been given bail until his court appearance. |
