It is one of the most popular and widely-read peer-reviewed general medical journals in the world. , Houston doctors described six patients who ended up in their offices after spending an evening "dancing on a dance floor covered with several feet of foam, similar in appearance to the suds in a bubble bath, raining from the ceiling.

"At a 'foam party,' as such a dance is called, much of the patrons' bodies may be covered with foam," the doctors reported. "Although the exact chemical or detergent detergent (dētûr`jənt, dĭ–), substance that aids in the removal of dirt. The patients were treated with antibiotics, and two men who had problems with their corneas were given patches.

After two weeks of treatment, four of the six patients recovered, and two were left with slight permanent changes in vision.
