'FIELD OF DREAMS' PREMIERES HUNDREDS TURN OUT TO FROLIC IN CENTRAL PARK.Byline: Angela M. Lemire Staff Writer SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, - Santa Clarita Central Park - proclaimed the new ``flagship'' of all city parks - debuted in grand style Saturday with the usual assortment of speeches, ribbon cutting, food, giveaways, music, dancing and local Miss Teen appearances. But the 140-acre, $5 million park's true initiation took place on its freshly cut, emerald-green playing fields, sandy tot lot and softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field.
